Alyona Sotnikova

Alyona is a Russian-born, New York–based architectural, interior, and set designer. She graduated from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, where she received a professional degree in architecture, accompanied by rigorous training in the Russian school of academic drawing.
Passionate about spatial design, Alyona worked in Saint Petersburg as an interior and exhibition designer, contributing to several exhibition projects at the Bolshoi Drama Theater. She also collaborated with an independent director from the Bolshoi Puppet Theater as a set designer for The Ballad of the Small Tugboat by Joseph Brodsky, which later premiered in Moscow and remains in the theater’s repertoire.
Alyona moved to the U.S. to pursue her Master of Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she deepened her study of set design history and contributed to several student theater productions. She currently lives and works in New York as an architectural designer and is thrilled to join The Mutt as set designer. This opportunity allows her to draw on her cultural background, professional experience, and love of Russian literature while collaborating with an inspiring creative team.
