Alina has always been full of energy for as long as she can rememberānever able to keep still. Her artistic journey began in the first grade, when she danced traditional Moldavian folk dances filled with lively stomping and jumping. One day, while at her Art School, she heard the choir singing a humorous song with rooster sounds. Fascinated, she wanted to join, but the only way in was to enroll in a seven-year piano courseāso she did. After high school, Alina continued studying piano for several more years. Then, on the advice of her literature teacher, she attended a one-man show by a Romanian actor. That performance became a turning point, inspiring her to apply to the Academy of Arts in Moldova, where she earned her four-year degree in acting. Those challenging and inspiring years shaped her profoundly and remain among her most cherished memories. Alina graduated in the summer of 2015 and was soon hired by the National Theatre of Chisinauāher dream job. A year later, she immigrated to New York City to join her family. In NYC, she continued her training at the William Esper Studio, completing the two-year core program and studying the Meisner technique. She has been fortunate to perform in two productions created in collaboration with Anomalous.Co: Beyond Doomsday Scrolling (directed by Kathryn Mederos Syssoyeva) and Zebra 2.0 (written by Saviana Stanescu, directed by Jeremy Goren). The Mutt, according to Alina, is a play about all of usāabout growth and following the path of the heart. Her role as Zhuchka has been both thrilling and challenging. Zhuchka is a transformative force for every character she encounters, bringing chaos while ultimately ādesiring only good.ā Alina is grateful to be part of this remarkable project alongside such talented artists. |
